Abstract

Resource disparities frequently configure relationships between sending and receiving churches as one-way aid. Such a pattern may reduce local communities to program objects despite their existing faith, contextual knowledge, experience, and gifts. This article examines Romans 1:11 12 and asks how the passage disrupts one-way missionary relations and shapes a reciprocal model of mission for Indonesian churches. The study employs socio-rhetorical exegesis by examining inner texture, intertexture, social-cultural texture, ideological texture, and sacred texture. The findings show that Romans 1:11 affirms Paul’s apostolic contribution through a charisma pneumatikon, yet Romans 1:12 qualifies the direction of giving through symparaklēthēnai and en allēlois. Paul is not merely a giver; he recognizes the congregation’s faith as a means through which he himself will be strengthened. The article names this pattern charismatic mutuality: differentiated roles remain, but no missionary centre monopolizes divine gifts. This reading generates a missionary model of listening, receiving, sharing, mutual strengthening, and growing together. The model treats local churches as theological and missionary subjects rather than passive recipients.
